KUWAIT: HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Monday evening called Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, reviewing firm fraternal relations between both countries and sisterly peoples. During the phone conversation, they also tackled the rapid developments in the Middle East region and the existing conflict between the friendly Islamic Republic of Iran and the heinous Zionist entity and the latest regional and international developments.
Kuwaiti authorities on Tuesday continued to beef up preparations to face any possible consequences resulting from hostilities between Iran and the Zionist entity, especially on the nuclear and chemical fronts. Ministries, government departments and civil societies have been reviewing their contingency plans since the armed confrontations broke out on Friday. Kuwait shares sea borders with Iran as Zionist air raids focus on knocking out Iranian nuclear reactors and the Islamic Republic’s nuclear enrichment program.

Kuwait National Guard Chief Sheikh Mubarak Al-Humoud Al-Sabah on Tuesday visited Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Center for Chemical Defense and Radiology Monitoring and was briefed on the center’s capabilities and duties. He was informed that the center has advanced stations for monitoring and purification operations to deal with any nuclear leakage and environmental pollution. The stations have the ability to measure pollution levels and counter any dangers.
The National Initiative for Assessing Risks and Dangers of Nuclear Reactors on Tuesday held a meeting of military and civil officials to evaluate national capabilities, in addition to capabilities in the fields of energy, water and health. In a statement, the Chief of General Staff of the Kuwait Army said that they reviewed the readiness of vital sectors to deal with possible scenarios of emergencies and disasters.
It added that the discussions touched on environmental monitoring plans and dealing with air and sea crises, in addition to civil defense plans and mechanisms of support and coordination between the concerned authorities.
HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah on Tuesday led ministers in donating blood in a bid to boost the Central Blood Bank’s strategic reserves. The ministry of commerce and industry has assured the public that it has taken measures to ensure sufficient stocks of food and other essential commodities. The ministry of social affairs and labor is monitoring daily food stocks at cooperative societies to ensure there are enough supplies. The ministry of education has prepared some 90 public shelters in case of emergency.
Meanwhile, the foreign ministry has called on Kuwaiti nationals in Iran to contact the ministry or the Kuwaiti Embassy in Tehran to manage their repatriation to Kuwait. The ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that this was a part of its efforts to facilitate the return of citizens currently in Iran to Kuwait, in line with the emergency plans developed to ensure their security and safety, in coordination with concerned authorities.
The interior ministry denied rumors that it plans to conduct a siren test across the country on Wednesday, noting that any test run would be announced ahead of time through official channels. The ministry warned that it will take legal action against those who spread fake news that threatens security and spreads panic in society.
