“I spent a lot of time at Internacional, not so much time at Roma, but I’m spending a lot of time here as well and pretty much I started my family in Europe,” he says.
“Two years in Rome, arrived as only me and my wife; we left as me, my wife and [daughter] Helena. When we arrived at Liverpool, we started to build up our family, so it means life to me. The club has a huge impact on my life, my character.
“Football has a big impact on my personal way to live, on my character: discipline, responsibility, sense of togetherness, so many things. Here at Liverpool, all these kinds of things are stronger because of the way everybody works at the club, because of the way the supporters are connected to the club. It’s a huge community and that’s why it means life.
“It’s a fantastic place to be. You’ll never walk alone. I want to spend a lot of time here and I want to bring them joy as long as I play football. I know that titles are really important for them and I want to give them more titles, I want to give them joy, I want to give them special memories together with the team.
“I’m really happy with how things are going now because I think the future is positive for us and I really believe that we can do everything again.”
