CNN  —  One of the reasons politicians don’t often engage in massive overhauls of the American economy is that it’s very difficult to defend a massive overhaul of the American economy. However good any given plan is, it often produces losers and – even in the best of cases – some short-term pain. And repeatedly now as President Donald Trump has launched multiple massive overhauls, prominent Republicans have learned that the hard way. Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa is the most recent. Appearing at a town hall on Friday, Ernst was pressed on cuts to Medicaid – the health care…

“On a personal level, those are special achievements,” Andres Iniesta tells Sky Sports. He is referring to his player of the match awards in the 2010 World Cup final, 2012 European Championship final and 2015 Champions League final. You think? This is about the closest that Iniesta comes to talking himself up. It is part of the reason why the legendary Barcelona and Spain midfielder is so beloved. In an era in which brashness seems to prevail in so many walks of life, his remains an understated genius. Even his 116th-minute winner in that World Cup final was dedicated not to…

CNN  —  There was a reason for President Donald Trump’s particularly scathing response when a reporter asked him Wednesday about a new term coined about the president’s tariffs: TACO, or Trump Always Chickens Out. He had not yet heard the term, according to a senior White House official who acknowledged to CNN that the president was caught off guard. Trump had said as much at the time, saying “I’ve never heard that” before calling it the “nastiest question.” “He thought the reporter was calling him a chicken,” the official said, adding that Trump was “reasonably” frustrated with the phrase. The…

“The task of the modern educator is not to cut down jungles but to irrigate deserts. The right defense against false sentiments is to inculcate just sentiments. By starving the sensibility of our pupils, we only make them easier prey to the propagandist when he comes.” -C.S. The author spoke of “men without chests,” a phrase used by Francis Fukuyama in “The End of History and the Last Man.”The article…
