Israelis woke up to plumes of smoke and damaged buildings after Iran launched a series of retaliatory strikes in response to Israel’s decision to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities and kill senior Iranian officials and scientists. (Reuters)

Air raid sirens sounded across Israel into the early hours of Saturday, sending residents rushing into shelters as Iran launched five successive waves of missiles into the centre and north of the country.
