LONDON: The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the British King’s Foundation at the foundation’s headquarters, aimed at fostering sustainable development and enhancing education, innovation, and scientific research. The agreement aligns with the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to support initiatives that promote sustainability and long-term national development. In a press statement issued Wednesday, KFAS said the partnership will focus on key sectors including food security, education, cultural and environmental preservation, and scientific collaboration.

Under the agreement, both sides will launch a series of joint initiatives such as establishing model farms for regenerative horticulture and organizing training programs in sustainable agriculture, architecture, and traditional crafts. The collaboration will also include innovative programs to develop environmental and architectural solutions tailored to the region’s needs. Additionally, the agreement paves the way for academic exchange and research cooperation through visiting scholar programs, scientific fellowships, support for pilot projects, and virtual seminars to facilitate knowledge sharing between institutions in Kuwait and the United Kingdom.
KFAS Director General Dr Amina Farhan described the agreement as “an important milestone in strengthening Kuwaiti-British ties,” adding that it reflects the historical partnership and shared commitment to expanding cooperation between scientific and development institutions in both countries. Simon Sadinsky, Executive Director of Education at the King’s Foundation, expressed the foundation’s commitment to promoting education in science and environmental sustainability. “We look forward to sharing our expertise in sustainable architecture, horticulture, and traditional crafts as part of this meaningful collaboration,” he said.
Stuart Summers, Chargé d’Affaires at the British Embassy in Kuwait, welcomed the agreement, noting that it represents a step forward in strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Founded in 1990 by King Charles III, the King’s Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to creating communities that live in harmony with their surroundings. The foundation supports education, health, and heritage restoration programs across the United Kingdom and abroad. — KUNA
