KUWAIT: Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) announced Wednesday that its Firefighting Training Center has received international accreditation from the International Fire Services Accreditation Commission (IFSAC), headquartered at Oklahoma State University in the United States, officially qualifying it as a certified firefighter training institution. KNPC Deputy CEO for Support Services Kholoud Al-Mutairi described the accreditation as a significant milestone, particularly in the critical field of firefighting, which plays an essential role in the safety and operational integrity of the oil sector. She noted that the center is the first and only one of its kind in Kuwait to obtain this prestigious certification.
It is now authorized to offer 12 specialized firefighting courses that meet international standards—boosting its readiness to respond to various levels of emergency situations and enhancing the company’s overall crisis preparedness. Al-Mutairi extended her appreciation to all those who contributed to securing the accreditation, which followed an extensive field study, audit, and compliance with rigorous conditions set by IFSAC. She reaffirmed the company’s commitment to continuously developing its human resources in line with globally recognized standards.
Founded in 1990, the International Fire Service Accreditation Board (IFSB) is a nonprofit organization that accredits firefighter training and emergency services programs across several countries, including Canada, Gulf states, and parts of Asia. Certifications issued by IFSAC are internationally recognized markers of quality and professionalism and are often required for career advancement within the firefighting sector.- KUNA
