KUWAIT: Comprehensive renovation work has commenced on the vital Abdally Road, a key route stretching from central Kuwait to the country’s northernmost regions, the Ministry of Public Works announced on Friday. Minister of Public Works Dr Noura Al-Mashaan said the initiative marks the beginning of a broader plan to revamp internal roads and highways under a new package of contracts.
She noted that the Abdally project is one of 18 major infrastructure efforts currently being executed across Kuwait’s six governorates. “These projects aim to enhance road capacity and safety standards in alignment with international benchmarks,” Dr Al-Mashaan said, stressing that regular and major maintenance is essential to prolong the lifespan of national infrastructure, reduce reconstruction needs, and promote long-term sustainability and cost-efficiency.
Project foreman Eid Al-Rashidi confirmed that workers have begun laying Type-3 asphalt, a high-performance material suited for hot climates and known for its durability and resistance to softening. Al-Rashidi emphasized that renovation is proceeding according to a carefully planned schedule, with strict adherence to quality standards and technical specifications to ensure optimal results. — KUNA
