KUWAIT: The Scientific Center (TSCK), affiliated with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday with the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), aimed at enhancing institutional cooperation and advancing sustainable scientific and educational initiatives aligned with Kuwait’s national development goals. In a press statement, Director General of the Scientific Center Musaed Al-Yaseen said the agreement seeks to strengthen collaboration across several key scientific and environmental areas, including marine and desert ecosystems, aquaculture, biodiversity, water quality, nutrition, and food security.
These efforts will be pursued through a range of applied and research-based initiatives. Al-Yaseen added that the MoU also outlines cooperation in hosting joint exhibitions and scientific events, exchanging expertise and consultations, offering training programs, and facilitating researcher exchanges. The agreement also includes the joint development of scientific tools, particularly through the integration of artificial intelligence and data analysis technologies.

A joint coordination committee will be formed to oversee the implementation of the agreement and monitor the progress of agreed-upon projects under a flexible, scalable framework. The MoU is valid for three years and renewable, with periodic performance evaluations to ensure alignment with its objectives. Al-Yaseen emphasized that the memorandum builds on a longstanding partnership between TSCK and KISR, which has yielded impactful scientific and environmental projects that have significantly contributed to public awareness and research outputs in Kuwait.
He further affirmed the Scientific Center’s commitment to nurturing national talent by providing training and professional development opportunities for researchers and individuals interested in scientific disciplines. “This cooperation supports the development of a new generation of specialists in science, technology, and environmental fields,” he said, stressing the importance of strategic partnerships that drive impactful, community-oriented scientific research.
For his part, Acting Director General of KISR Faisal Al-Humaidan praised the agreement as a platform to translate the institute’s scientific findings into accessible awareness messages that elevate public understanding of environmental and technical issues. Al-Humaidan said the partnership also aims to develop educational and outreach programs designed to serve future generations and contribute to Kuwait’s broader vision for a sustainable, knowledge-based society. — KUNA
