Let the words of Liverpool’s players and staff tell you the story of the 2024-25 Premier League-winning season.
Arne Slot’s Reds squad delivered the club its 20th league title after a campaign filled with highs, togetherness and defiance.
Along the way, we were collecting the best quotes from the journey, and you can enjoy them below…
“I will do everything within my interest and power to lead the team in the best possible way.”
“Hopefully I’ll keep going like this through the whole season, not just the first game! I try to help the team all the time.”
“I have to show what I like to do because I think a lot of people forgot what I did last season and in the games before. Now I have to show that I am ready this season to be the best and I hope to be one of the best defenders in the world this season.”
“I was about to land [in] the aeroplane, I saw Anfield and as soon as I saw Anfield I said to my wife, ‘Put the song on – ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ – because I want to imagine myself playing there and hearing the chant of the fans.'”
“In getting my 300th appearance, it’s special to get it at any club, it’s fantastic. But to get it at such a massive club like Liverpool…”
“Everybody with the same goal of winning the game, keeping the clean sheet and doing whatever is necessary to do on the pitch – to defend, to attack, to score goals, create chances.”
“We have to turn it around pretty quickly and that will be the focus.”
“It came quite naturally.”
“Brilliant feeling, it’s something you dream of as a kid.”
“I can play better, as the gaffer said I can score more goals, I can give more assists, but I am doing the ‘dirty job’ as well for the team and that is the most important thing to me. While we are top of the league and I don’t score any goals, I’ll take it.”
“I’m playing with a smile on my face. It’s a different type of joy. My little girl would be proud as well.”
“My family stayed in Holland. That means that if I’m here, actually 99 per cent of time is just working. Go home, eat, take the computer out, watch the training session back, prepare for the meeting in the weekend. So if there’s a day off, it’s always a bit like, ‘I would have preferred to have a training session!'”
“Our fans were incredible [in] the second half. Our players [too] but our fans as well. It was the loudest crowd since I’ve been here.”
“They are a complete team.”
“I think I can be really dangerous.”
“I hate the idea that we’re underdogs. No! We have an incredible group. [Alisson] is one of the best in the world… in each position you’re going to find a player who is really one of the top three in the world. So, why don’t we win it? This city and this club has to always fight for everything.”
“We knew they [Slot and his coaching staff] were going to leave no stone unturned, and I think they’ve been excellent. The lads have obviously bought into it. You see that in the results. That helps, it breeds confidence – but I think we can still get better.”
“Every pass should be delivered as a message without having to talk. I think the person who receives the ball should know just from how the ball is played to you what the situation is for you – whether you can turn, whether you have to play it back, whether it’s in space. They should understand what your thinking was through the pass.”
“I am hungrier than ever to get back out on the pitch and to help my team, to help the club.”
“You have my word that we will keep on working as hard as we possibly can to keep on improving.”
“It was a dream when I was a young kid to play in a big team. When I came here I didn’t realise I could reach these numbers but I’m really glad.”
“Their work ethic, the way they track back, are good indicators. They’re so good all over the pitch. Such a threat going forward. These are really, really good. It’s the best team in the Premier League and the world.”
“I never throw the towel in.”
“I cannot ask for more from these players.”
“We just have to buckle up, enjoy the ride.”
“I am the type of manager that if there are 10 games to be played and I’m 25 points up I still feel like, ‘Oh, we have to win.'”
“If our fans are getting carried away then we know we’re doing something right and we have to let them get carried away – but it’s important the changing room doesn’t get carried away.”
“We do not just want you [the supporters] to dream, we need you to dream. This is a big part of what makes this club so special because it challenges the players and the staff to do everything that we possibly can to be the best that we can be.”
“My idea is now very simple: I always try to help the team. And if I have a chance to play, I go all in. That’s what I’m thinking, always, and I’ll keep doing that.”
“They [the fans] are really creative in these songs and now let’s hear them before the game tomorrow, although I’m in the stands. Maybe I can start them with Isaac [Kearney]!”
“Only thing I can say is that we want to bounce back, and we will!”
“I just want to win the Premier League more than anything else. I want it so bad, to be fair. The fans deserve it.”
“It was always Liverpool.”
“We have worked so hard for the whole season to get to this point and everybody was involved somehow – from the players, from the staff, from the fans, from the city, from everybody.”
“I don’t think I want to say a lot. The only thing now is to send my appreciation to Jürgen Klopp. So there we go… Jürgen Klopp, la, la, la, la, la…”
“This is what we wanted to deliver to our fans more than anything. This is a club that should always compete for everything and be right at the top. No excuses.”
“These goals produced bursts of ground-shaking, triggered by the sheer passion of Liverpool fans. Their enthusiasm was literally powerful enough to move the Earth.”

“It’s so, so special. This club deserves it. When I arrived at this club, I said I was here to win trophies and this is maybe the biggest one you can get here. I’m really, really happy but I’m pretty sure that this is just the beginning.”
“I was really determined to get Alan Hansen to be here and to give me the trophy. I’m glad he wanted [to] because I met him before and obviously he’s one of the best centre-backs that Liverpool ever had. It was meant to be.”
“I think I could feel today that it was 35 years ago that they [the fans] were part of it.”
