The big worry for both competitors though is lingering injuries as the Italian and Serbian both have question marks over their health coming into Friday.
• Hot day in London: The searing heat this summer in England is continuing today as temperatures are set to climb to around 32 degrees Celsius (90 degrees Fahrenheit) this afternoon, almost 10 degrees Celsius warmer than average for this time of year. Three spectators appeared to be affected in separate incidents yesterday by the heat.
• American into women’s final: Amanda Anisimova shocked world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in a three-set thriller to make her debut grand slam final. In the other semifinal, Iga Świątek breezed past Belinda Bencic to make it to Saturday’s final on Centre Court.
